Programme
“Help and Teach”
This programme was developed by the Prince
Dimitri Romanov Charity Fund and aimed at
children of school age with limited physical
capabilities and material resources
Despite the variety of services for the organisation of the leisure activities
of children of school age, many families are not able to take advantage of them.
It all comes down to the financial power of the family – some do not have the
resources to pay for the services, other are not able to buy the things which
are needed for these pursuits. As a result adolescents have no choice other than
to stroll idly around the streets, where they come across their friends who also
have nothing to do. This way of spending time often ends in the police station.
A lot of the kids from less privileged families are talented and inquisitive.
Some would like to learn to use computers like their more fortunate peers and
make friends in a virtual world. Others dream of going to drama school or art
college. There are also romantic types who compose poetry and dream of becoming
writers.
These children grow up knowing that their dreams are unattainable. They develop
an inferiority complex compared with their more successful peers. A feeling of
bitterness grows, and they become jealous of everybody around them. But it is
not the child’s fault that life has treated them like this. They have a perfect
right to be valuable members of society. To give them the opportunity to
demonstrate their abilities, to capture people’s attention by doing something
useful, and to point out a path through life – these are great and noble aims.
After all children are Russia’s future.
The charitable fund of Prince Dimitri Romanov calls on everyone who is not
indifferent to the fate of these children, everyone who wants to live in a quiet
safe town and to watch television programmes about the successes of young people
rather than police reports, to join the “Help and Teach” programme.
The object of the programme is to create clubs, groups, master-classes, studios
etc., together with representatives of organisations and structures which are
interested in the things it is trying to do, and with the collaboration and
support of governmental and municipal bodies, and also with the participation of
societies for the disabled (based on the interests of specific regions). The
programme will be implemented in the fields of education, science, culture and
the arts and will be aimed at the spiritual development of children from
disadvantaged families and persons with limited physical capabilities.
In the course of the programme projects will be developed in these areas and in
specific geographical regions, taking account of the interests of those who wish
to be educated or trained.
Anybody who is interested in organising these measures can write to the address
of the Fund – c.f. the page entitled “Contact us” on the Fund’s web-site. Your
information will be included in the data base to determine which measures are
needed in the organisation, and which persons require support.
Persons or organisations wishing to participate in the programme can transfer
money to the Fund’s account (c.f. Contacts), means of payment: a Non-taxable
Charitable Contribution. Purpose of the payment: the realisation of the “Help
and Teach” Programme.
